The Civic Theatre will host a night of show tunes on Sunday night to support youths from one of the world’s most war-torn regions.
Gaza Kids to Tallaght is currently trying to raise over €3k to bring a football team of Palestinian youths to meet the Shamrock Rovers this August.
Songs from beloved musicals like Les Mis, Wicked and Rent will be performed by professional singers.
Tickets for the event are €12 and €10 for OAP/Students. A family deal for two adults and two children will cost €40.
The under 15s from the Al Helal Football Academy in Gaza will experience a 10-day visit in Ireland from Saturday and will watch Shamrock Rovers play Derry on August 4th in Tallaght Stadium.
The 20-strong team will visit and play football in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Leitrim.
The initiative is in its second year and is run by NGO Gaza Action Ireland (GAI). GAI promise a night of laughter and song on Saturday night.
Gaza Action Ireland says the trip is to provide respite for the youths, who live in a region that has experienced conflict for decades.
GAI said: “This trip is all about bringing children who, by the age of 15 will have already been through five wars and a never ending siege, to Ireland for a much-needed break.
“The reality is for nearly all children under fifteen, they will have never left an area any bigger than 12 miles by 4 miles. This will be the first time in their lives that they will have ever seen the outside world.”
The group have currently raised over €2,600 of their €3,000 goal.
