Civic’s Special Performance: Grammy award winning orchestra comes to Civic

The renowned Irish Chamber Orchestra will take to The Civic Theatre stage on April 10 for a special performance as part of an exciting and eclectic programme to celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary.

Directed by celebrated German violinist Carolin Widmann, the Grammy Award winning orchestra will take to the Tallaght stage to perform three iconic masterworks from some of the world’s best-known composers of classical music – Mozart, Bach and Tchaikovsky.

Receiving rave reviews, this performance will span 90 minutes and delve into some of the most beautiful symphonies from the Romantic, Classical and Baroque eras, in what promises to be a night not to be missed.

The Civic Theatre is a pivotal and much- oved cultural beacon in South Dublin County.

This style of event is a departure from the Civic’s typical offerings, but highlights the South Dublin theatre’s commitment to being a centre for culture of all genres and interests, appealing to those locally and beyond.

This year will see comedians like Jarlath Regan and Emma Doran bringing their signature shows to the stage, as well as a series of plays from the minds of theatre collective This Is Pop Baby and playwright Peter Sheridan in the coming weeks.

More contemporary music fans are also in for a treat, with a diverse collection of tribute acts to perform throughout the year, from Elton John to Bon Jovi.

These events are just a small selection of the exciting programme that’s promised for 2024.

Donal Shiels, Artistic Director and CEO of The Civic Theatre, says: “For a quarter of a century, The Civic Theatre has been a hub for artistic innovation and community engagement.

“We invite audiences to join us as we celebrate this milestone and continue our commitment to fostering creativity, arts and entertainment in one of Dublin’s friendliest and welcoming venues.

“We’re excited to invite the Irish Chamber Orchestra to The Civic Theatre for this all-ages event – they have received glowing reviews and we couldn’t be more thrilled to invite audiences to experience their performance on April 10.

“This is one of the most exciting events in our 2024 programme as we celebrate 25 years.”

The venue boasts two fully resourced performance spaces; the Main Auditorium (seating 309) and The Civic Studio Theatre (seating 60+), as well as the Betelnut Café, serving tea and coffee, as well as breakfast, lunch and pre-theatre menus.
