CLONDALKIN councillor Trevor Gilligan has set his sights on the Eurovision, and hopes to “regenerate” Ireland’s success in the contest with his new song, Keep You Warm.

The Fianna Fail councillor released a 3-track EP in the summer, which received airplay on TV and radio, alongside coverage in local and national media.

This is Cllr Gilligan’s second time to enter the Eurovision, with the Clondalkin native submitting a song to the contest when he was just 15.

“At the time, I had no experience writing or producing music”, he said.

“One of the highest honours in music is representing Ireland in the Eurovision.

“To be involved in writing and composing a song for my country would be a dream come true.”

Keep You Warm is radio friendly and according to Cllr Gilligan has a “simple melody” that consists of “gentle piano, heavy bass and catchy lyrics”.

The deadline for submissions is today, with the 63rd Eurovision contest taking place in Lisbon, Portugal, this May.
