Clondalkin grandmother transforms her life after losing six stone

A GRANDMOTHER who suffered from depression due to weight issues and required a walking stick to get around, has completely transformed her lifestyle after losing an incredible six stone.
Clondalkin woman Ann O’Keefe (71), joined Ballyfermot Slimming World two years ago, after her weight hit the 16 stone mark.
Ann tried many diets over the years “but nothing worked” and it caused her to struggle with confidence and depression.
“Sometimes if I sat down in a chair I’d need help to get back out of it and I’d always feel so tired,” said Ann.
Slimming World consultant Lorna Harrison, says grandmother of six Ann is “a wonderful lady” with the “heart of a 20 year-old.”
“When Ann joined my group she could barely walk unaided, but now after losing six stone she’s full of energy and power walks every day,” said Lorna.
Ann says she has learned to cook food better and was full of praise for Lorna and Slimming World.
“I can still have my sausage and rashers in the morning if I want, but now I cook them on the grill, or use the one calorie spray oil in the pan. It makes all the difference.”
“I’d say I’m eating more now that I was when I was heavy, but I’m eating better.”
Prior to shedding the pounds, Ann was waiting on a knee replacement, but she no longer needs that or her walking stick to get around.
