Cocaine worth €2.8m seized in Liffey Valley car park

GARDAI made a €2.8m drug seizure in Liffey Valley yesterday, which resulted in four people being arrested. 

Garda from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by the Special Crime Task Force, intercepted two vehicles in a car park at Liffey Valley yesterday evening (December 6) at around 7.10pm.

The operation targeted organised criminal activity in the Dublin and Meath regions.

According to a Garda statement: “A large quantity of suspected cocaine with an approximate street value of €2.8 million was seized and three (3) men and one woman all in their 40s were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking offences.

“They are currently detained at Clondalkin, Ballyfermot and Lucan Garda stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, and follow up investigations are on-going.”  

Cash totalling approximately €50,000 has also been recovered in a follow up search at a residence in Meath, gardai said.

Earlier yesterday evening at around 6.30pm, gardai, in a second, separate operation also targeting serious criminal activity in the Dublin and Meath regions, intercepted a vehicle on the N7 at Rathcoole.

“A large quantity of cannabis herb with an approximate street value of €800,000 was seized”, gardai said.

One man in his forties was arrested for drug trafficking offences, and he currently in custody at Clondalkin Garda Station.
