In 2018, the scheme supported seven local organisations in their provisions across the community, including Anam Cara, Barnardos, Foroige Tallaght, Kingswood/Kilnamanagh Active Age Club, New age Residential, Pieta House and Saoirse Women’s Refuge.

According to Niamh Gavin, Foundation Manager, a record number of applications were received last year.

She added how organisations awarded funding delivered support to a broad range of recipients including bereaved parents, recovering addicts and children in refuge.

“This is all in line with the Adelaide Health Foundation’s aim to ensure healthcare is available to all and is based upon health needs and not on financial needs”, Ms Gavin said.

The 2019 budget has been increased in response to demand, with all community healthcare organisation, which specifically provide a service or supports within the healthcare field, invited to submit an application.

Under the Community Healthcare Initiative Scheme, grants of up to €5,000 can be awarded.
