A YOUNG mother with terminal cancer is being supported by neighbours who have organised a fundraiser for the family.

Neighbours of Lyndsey Murray from Ballyfermot, are hosting a family day on Saturday, August 6, from 2pm to 6pm in Colepark Drive.

The Echo understands Lyndsey is a mother-of-three young boys and lives in Ballyfermot with her partner.

Residents want to do something to help support the family and Lyndsey’s kids Carson (8), Riley (10) and Rian (11).

“Really it is about trying to raise some funds for the kids and the family, and to try and make a few more memories,” said a Colepark resident.

“Residents are organising spot prizes and trying to get local businesses involved.”

“Lyndsey is on double chemotherapy now. She was sick last year with cancer, then got the all clear, but it came back last month aggressively.”

The family fun day called ‘Ballyfermot is behind you Lyndsey Murray’ will feature bouncy castles, live music, raffle prizes, plus fun and games.

Numerous other events have been organised by family and friends, including walks and bingo/karaoke nights.

A GoFundMe page ‘Our Lovely Lyndsey’ was established by Sharon Ogden to support the family and has raised close to €4k so far.

Sharon said it is “an emotional tough time” for the family, but in an update on July 28, said Lyndsey is now home from hospital and resting.

“Your generosity is so overwhelming for Lyndsey and her boys. A massive thanks – honestly you’re all such decent kind humans.”
