The aim of these awards is to recognise the success of small Irish businesses and the vital contributions they make to the Irish economy.

Aalto Bio Reagents is celebrating its 40th year in business. The company develops leading-edge biological raw materials and provides them to pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies worldwide with a particular focus on the tropical disease sector.

Announcing Aalto Bio Reagent’s win, Sue O’Neill, SFA Chair and Chair of the Awards Judging Panel, said, “This is the second time this innovative company has won this award. A fantastic achievement and a great way for the company to celebrate its 40th year in business.”

While presenting the awards, Heather Humphries TD, Minster for Business, Enterprise, and Innovation said, “Ireland has a strong history of entrepreneurship and, without a doubt, this year’s nominees personify the strength of resilience and character that makes up our small business sector. Given their level of enthusiasm and determination, I have no doubt that each of these businesses have a very bright future ahead of them.”

Digital food, drink and travel magazine, TheTaste.ie, won the award for Outstanding Small Business (up to five employees).
