Coronavirus: 17,071 new cases confirmed

SOME 17,071 confirmed cases of Covid 19 are being reported by health officials in Ireland today.

The information was released through the Department of Health’s Twitter account.

The Department also confirmed that as of 8am today, 717 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, 87 of whom are in ICU.

Given the current high incidence, the Department said that daily case numbers are based on positive SARS-CoV-2 results uploaded to the HSE Covid Care Tracker the preceding day, with data provisional.
