
Council releases details of housing aid payments
South Dublin County Council have released details regarding the Housing Assistance Payment Scheme tenancies.
The details released to The Echo indicate that Palmerstown – Fonthill has as little as 12 such active tenancies while Tallaght Central has 602 Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) Scheme tenancies.
Similarly, Firhouse – Bohernabreena has 33 HAP tenancies while Clondalkin has 530 such tenancies.
Furthermore, the details released by South Dublin County Council (SDCC) indicate that the HAP rates include €430 for one adult in shared accommodation.
As of August 13 on daft.ie, while there was accommodation available which involved sharing a room which was below the €430 rate, there was no shared accommodation available to rent which involved a room in a shared house in the whole Dublin region which was at or below this rate.
The HAP rates for South Dublin progress from one adult in shared accommodation to a couple in shared accommodation which is €500.
For those who wish to rent out their own accommodation, such as an apartment, the rates are for one adult, €660 and a couple, €990.
For those with a family the rates are for one adult or a couple with one child, €1,250, one adult, or a couple with two children, €1,275 and for one adult or a couple with three children, €1,300.
On daft.ie the cheapest property to rent for the whole of Dublin was a studio in Palmerstown which was advertised at €200 per week (€867 per month), while a two-bed in Dublin 1 was available for €1,200 per month.
A National Shared Service is operated by Limerick City and County Council, on behalf of all Local Authorities, for the HAP scheme. They are responsible for making all payments to landlords, and for collecting the weekly rent from all tenants. They also have responsibility for the HAP Debt Management process, according to SDCC.
There are 2,462 active HAP tenancies in South Dublin, according to the local authority.
