Crawford sees his Ireland U21s hit the ground running

TALLAGHT man Jim Crawford saw his Republic of Ireland Under 21 team hit the ground running in their bid to qualify for the European Championship Finals after they dished out a 2-0 defeat to Bosnia & Herzegovina in Zenica this afternoon.

Scoreless at the break, the match saw the visitors take the lead when Tyreik Wright found the back of the net from the penalty spot just seven minutes after the restart.

And Conor Coventry doubled their advantage on 73 minutes as Ireland saw out the match for a great start to their qualification campaign.

The team will be hoping to maintain the early momentum generated when they travel to Luxembourg for their clash on Tuesday in a group that also includes Italy, Sweden and Montenegro.
