Urban Picnic – New outdoor market pitches tent in Corkagh Park
A NEW urban outdoor market is starting in Corkagh Park, Clondalkin, this Saturday, September 4.
The market, which will have street food, crafts, artisan produce and family entertainment as the weeks progress, is called Urban Picnic and will take place every Saturday from 11am to 5pm.
Running on a trial basis over the course of September and October, the market will pitch tent near the playground in Corkagh Park and is visible from the St John’s Road entrance.
Directional posters will be in place.
According to South Dublin County Council, outdoor markets such as Urban Picnic help promote the local community while enhancing the attraction of parks and tourism in the county.
Welcoming this new development, Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Peter Kavanagh said: “This is great news for Corkagh Park, for Clondalkin, and is something the community has wanted for many years.
“I want to pay tribute to the councillors past and present who pushed for this market, and to the council officials who made it happen.
“The outdoor market promises to have hot food, coffee, sweets and treats, ice cream, artisan produce, crafts and more, as well as showcasing some up-and-coming food producers supported by the Local Enterprise Office South Dublin.
“The council is trialling this new outdoor market in Clondalkin during September and October and I’d call on the local community to come out and support this worthwhile initiative.
“I know that I’ll be along at 11am on Saturday.”
LEO South Dublin is supporting the initiative by South Dublin County Council and the County Promotion Unit.
