Davis U14s secure national Féile Shield title for first time

THOMAS Davis U14 footballers were celebrating at the weekend when they claimed the All-Ireland Féile Shield title for the first time.

The Kiltipper side turned on the style as they Castledawson from Derry 4-11 to 0-2 in the final in Kerry.

Davis produced a superb display in the final after travelling to Ballyduff, Killarney, Tralee and Rathkeale during the three-day competition.

The team had great performances from Kevin Mularkey, Bryan Keogh, Adam Waddick and Sam Stewart helped by great display from captain Fionn Murray.

Kevin Mularkey and Conor Cronin scored goals for Davis while Bryan Keogh chipped in with a couple of well-worked points.

On their way to the final, Davis saw off Cahersiveen (Kerry) and the semi-final was against Glenbay/Glencar from Kerry.

In the semi-final, Davis showed great character, coming from five points down with six minutes remaining in the game.

Mentor Jonny Jackson said that the players put in huge effort in training with Mark Bates and the minors who came in to give a hand and stressed this was a very proud moment for the club.

“Thanks to all the players, mentors, parents and Ridgeway Coaches for all the effort they put in this weekend” It was Thomas Davis first National Féile win.
