Larkview Boys are on the rise

By Echo Reporter

LARKVIEW football club is looking to establish a new school-boy section to complement its recently built top-of-the-range facilities in Whelan Park.

A new gym, dressing rooms and another 7-a-side astro pitch has been put into place to help “in the belief that consistent training on a top quality surface is essential to developing top-quality players.”

The club, which was founded in 1938, is one of the oldest clubs in Dublin.

They are looking for young players and Larkview man Mark Cashlin insists they want to ‘hit the ground running’.

“We are looking to start with a small number of teams, but quality teams. We do not want loads of teams everywhere.”

“We would invite anyone down at Whelan Park (Lower Kimmage road) to come down and have a look.

“Trials for kids born in the year 2007, 2008 and 2009 are been held on Tuesday and for kids born in 2004, 2005 and 2006 are on the Wednesday.”

Larkview also want to impose ‘confidence on the ball’ and are set to teach young players “game intelligence through guided discovery and game-based training”.

Pure football seems to be the message from the club with them stating: “We wish to let the players develop confidence on the ball, so no shouting continuous instruction from the side-line, we will “Let them play.”
