Delight as businesswomen secure social leader awards

SOUTH Dublin County businesswomen and prominent social leaders were among the winners at the annual Irish Women’s Awards 2019.

There were 31 awards on the night.

Green Angel

Mary Mitchell from Green Angel 

Business of the Year (less than 50 staff) award, went to Mary Mitchell, from Rathcoole company Green Angel Skincare.

The natural skincare brand was founded in 2006 by Mary and Chris Mitchell, and has won numerous industry awards and accolades.

Green Angel thanked customers for their support and their staff for all the hard work they have put in.

Social Leader of the Year went to Liz Waters. CEO of An Cosán VCC in Tallaght.

An Cosán said they were thrilled with the award which is “great recognition” of Liz’s “work, dedication and commitment to education equality and empowering women.”

Food Entrepreneur of the Year went to Sarah Kiely, from Walkinstown business Sadie’s Kitchen.

Sarah discovered a bone broth a few years ago when a stressful media job took its toll on her digestive health.

After developing a 100 per cent Irish free-range [chicken] bone broth, Sarah received investment from Alison Cowzer on Dragons’ Den in 2017 and rolled out the product to over 200 stores across Ireland and the UK.

The company were “overjoyed” to win the award and thanked their supporters and fellow nominees.

The awards showcase the contribution of women to various industries and professions.

A Spokesperson for the Irish Women’s Awards 2019, said: “We are delighted to have acknowledged successful women from across Ireland who have managed to stand out among the rest in their profession. It is a pleasure to see that empowered women, empower women and this memorable ceremony highlighted exactly that.”
