Delight for Faughs securing Division One féile crown

THERE was delight for Faughs Celtic U15 camogie team when they claimed the Division One Féile title for the very first time.

The Templeogue side secured the crown after they saw off the challenge of Clontarf 1-2 to 0-4 in a thrilling encounter in St Peregrine’s GAA Club.

The Templeogue side got off to a flying start when a shot from Ella Meade rebounded and was crashed into the net by Sophie Walsh.

Clontarf came into the game as the first half progressed and Faughs held a narrow half-time lead 1-0 to 0-2.

Faughs started the second half strongly and driven on by Leah McEvoy in midfield and player of the match Daisy Sunderland regained the lead with an excellent point from Alannah Evoy.

Following strong Clontarf pressure, the team were level with five minutes remaining on the clock.

Faugh’s winning team and coaches won the Division One féile for the first time

Faughs were awarded a 45 and the excellent Sadhbh King pointed to give Faughs the lead.

The drama was not over, and Clontarf pressed hard for both the equalising point or lead goal.

The heroic Faughs defence marshalled by team captain Grace O’Sullivan aided by crucial saves from goalkeeper Isabelle O’Flaherty held firm to seal a historic first Feile win for Faughs in a final.

On their way to the final, Faughs overcame St Vincent’s, Cuala and Ballinteer St John’s in the group stages and beat Ballyboden St Enda’s in the semis.
