Diamond celebrations never too late for the happy couple

A LUCAN couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary – albeit it had to be drastically rearranged due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Larry (88) and Brid O’Sullivan (80), from Castle Riada, were initially hoping to celebrate their Diamond anniversary on their special day – July 4.

However, this was moved due to the restrictions imposed by the lockdown and social distancing.

“It was hard to organise a venue. They couldn’t have the meal on July 4 due to the lockdown, but it was held in the Skylon Hotel in Drumcondra on July 25 with a small gathering,” said Caitriona Cunningham, daughter-in-law of the happy couple.

Liam and Brid, both retired, moved to Lucan 15 years ago, after raising their family in Cabra.

The couple have three children Caroline, Irene and David, Caitriona’s partner.

According to Caitriona, the pair love to spend time with their family, friends and above all, their eight grandchildren, who range in age from 31 years to six months.

“They even got a letter from President Michael D Higgins congratulating them,” she said.
