Driver to be prosecuted for slowing down to take photos of N4 collision

A DRIVER who allegedly slowed down to take photos on their phone of a serious collision on the N4 on Friday will be prosecuted for 'driving without reasonable consideration and holding a mobile phone'. 

The collision, which happened at approximately 10am on Friday, April 27, resulted in emergency services being called to deal with an overturned truck on the N4 outbound.

The incident resulted in heavy traffic and long tailbacks in-and-around the area, with motorists advised to avoid the area where possible. 

However, one motorist caught the attention of gardai when they allegedly reduced their speed while driving past the collision to take a picture. 

According to a tweet by An Garda Siochana: “Driver stopped for driving slowly past the overturned truck on N4 at Foxhunter so they could take pictures on their phone.”

The driver’s actions, according to An Garda Siochana, delayed motorists “already in long tailbacks for hours”. 

According to An Garda Siochana, the driver will be prosecuted for “driving without reasonable consideration and holding a mobile phone”.
