DUBLIN: Arrest made after man stabbed during early morning mugging

A man (30s) is recovering in hospital this afternoon after he was stabbed in Dublin in the early hours of this morning during a mugging.

The incident occurred on Crane Lane in Dublin 2 at approximately 3:30am this morning.

Gardai have confirmed that one man in his teens has been arrested in relation to the incident.

According to Gardai: “A man in his early 30s, was stabbed by a number of youths who robbed his phone. 

“A taxi man assisted the injured man and took him to St James’ Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.  His injuries are not life threatening. 

“A description of the culprits was circulated to Gardai and an arrest was made a short time later. 

“The scene was located and was preserved. The phone was recovered when the arrest was made.

“The arrested man is currently detained at Pearse Street Garda Station, under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act, 1984.”
