Dublin South/Wicklow’s James Guarin named regional Carer of the Year
JAMES Dave Guarin has been announced as the Dublin South/Wicklow regional winner of Right at Home’s Carer of the Year Awards 2026, recognising his dedication and contribution to supporting people across the community.
Following his win, James will now go on to represent the region alongside six other finalists across Ireland in the competition’s national stage, where Right at Home’s National Carer of the Year 2026 will be selected.
The annual awards celebrate care professionals who make a meaningful difference to the lives of their clients, helping older people and adults with disabilities to continue living safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes.
James expressed his gratitude following his recognition and sense of pride at the opportunity to represent the Dublin South/Wicklow team.
“Caring is incredibly rewarding because you have the opportunity to make a real difference to someone’s day, even through the smallest gestures. I’m fortunate to work alongside such supportive colleagues and to care for people who place their trust in us every day.”
Established by Right at Home in 2020, the awards recognise the exceptional work carried out by carers across the organisation.
Nominations are submitted by those who see their work first-hand, including clients, clients’ families, colleagues, managers and supervisors.
Business Manager at Right at Home Dublin South/Wicklow, Leann Parker, spoke about James’ success, saying: “James approaches his work with genuine kindness, patience and respect, and that is reflected in the trust he builds with the people he supports.
‘He brings a calm and dependable presence to his role and consistently puts the needs and dignity of his clients at the centre of everything he does.
“Being a great carer is often about the small things: listening, noticing when someone needs extra reassurance and making people feel comfortable in their own homes.
James brings those qualities to his work every day, and we are incredibly proud to see his contribution recognised at a national level.”
The recognition comes as Right at Home continues to expand its teams nationwide, with the home care provider planning to create 500 new jobs across its network by the end of 2026 amid growing demand for home care services across Ireland.
The national winner of Right at Home’s Carer of the Year will be announced at an awards ceremony in Galway on October 16.
