Mayor delighted to welcome Ukrainian Ambassador to county council offices

MAYOR Francis Timmons welcomed Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Ms Larysa Gerasko, to the South Dublin County Council offices.

Since 2021, Larysa Gerasko has served as the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, focusing her time in office on fostering political, economic, and cultural cooperation between Ireland and Ukraine.

She has also tirelessly advocated for human rights and spent her time raising awareness of, and garnering support for, Ukraine since 2022, when Russia invaded the country.

Mayor Timmons was “delighted to welcome Larysa Gerasko” … “to SDCC to show solidarity with Ukraine.”

He referenced the ongoing war in Ukraine and the tireless work that continues with the hope of bringing peace to Ukraine.

“This unprovoked war has been going on for four years. I wanted to show solidarity with all those who believe in defending democracy and freedom; peace is the long-term goal, and I look forward to a time when Ukraine is an EU member”

“The human devastation of this war is clear in the mindless deaths, the ones left with lifelong injuries and the impact on the global economy”

“SDCC were the first council to raise the Ukrainian Flag when the war started, and several motions were passed to call for an end to the War.”
