€3k raised by community for Team Lyndsey

ORGANISERS thanked everyone who supported a fundraising drive for a young mother with terminal cancer.

Neighbours of Lyndsey Murray, from Ballyfermot, hosted a family day on Saturday, August 6, in Colepark Drive.

The Echo understands Lyndsey is a mother of three young boys and lives in Ballyfermot with her partner, and is back home now after spending time in hospital, after cancer returned aggressively two months ago.

Residents want to do something to help support the family and Lyndsey’s kids, Carson (8), Riley (10) and Rian (11).

Posting on Facebook after the event, Karol Mulroy, one of the organisers, said they wanted to thank “everyone that donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and supported Lyndsey’s fun day.”

“Colepark, as you can all see from the photos, we all had an amazing day for Lyn, and she so deserves. With 20 days preparation for the fun day, we managed to raise €3,000. Thanks so much we appreciate all your kindness,” said Karol.

Another organiser Janeh Mulroy, said: “It was a fantastic day. We got a great turnout and raised €3,000 for Lyndsey and her boys. The day couldn’t have gone any better.”

The family fun day called ‘Ballyfermot is behind you Lyndsey Murray’ featured bouncy castles, live music, raffle prizes, plus fun and games.

Numerous other events have been organised by family and friends, including walks and bingo/karaoke nights.

A GoFundMe page ‘Our Lovely Lyndsey’ was established by Sharon Ogden to support the family and raised close to €4,000 so far.

Sharon said it is “an emotionally tough time” for the family, but in an update on July 28, said Lyndsey is now home from hospital and resting.

“Your generosity is so overwhelming for Lyndsey and her boys. A massive thanks – honestly you’re all such decent kind humans.”
