Éanna and Templeogue set for Cup semi finals

BOTH DBS Éanna and Griffith College Templeogue will be hoping they can secure involvement in the National Basketball Cup Finals weekend later this season.

The former will face off against Garvey’s Tralee Warriors in the Men’s Pat Duffy Cup semi finals in Neptune Stadium on Saturday in a bid secure their spot in the National Cup showpiece against either C&S Neptune or NUIG Maree.

Darren McGovern’s outfit were on the losing side in the last Cup decider to have been staged back in 2020 when they came up against near neighbours Templeogue.

They have been in very impressive form so far this season winning six of their eight Super League games to go top of the North Conference.

Tralee, meanwhile, have also suffered just two reversals in their eight league outings to date this season, leaving them second to the flawless Ballincollig in the South Conference.

In the last four of the Women’s Division One National Cup, Templeogue will take on North Conference rivals Swords Thunder while the top two in the South Conference, NUIG Mystics and Limerick go head-to-head on the other side of the draw.

The Reds do have reason to feel confident heading into their respective semi final in Cork on Saturday given that Swords have managed just one win from their nine National League outings this term, leaving their rooted to the foot of the table.

Templeogue, meanwhile, sit second, three points behind leaders Ulster University after chalking up four wins from seven games.
