TALLAGHT Athletic Club member Rhasidat Adeleke, representing the University of Texas, won the Big 12 Conference Championships in Lubbock, Texas, beating her own Irish 400m record of 50.45 seconds – trimming it to 50.33.

In doing so, Adeleke clocked the fastest women’s indoor time in American collegiate history and was named The Echo Sports Star of the Month for February.

Three-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny, Charlie Carter, was appointed as the new manager of Lucan Sarsfields’ senior hurling team.

Tallaght man Paul Bolger, who is a former St Anne’s gaelic footballer and student in St MacDara’s Community College, penned a new one-year contract with rugby league side Cornwall.

Kilnamanagh’s Georgia McGovern, who boxes out of Setanta Boxing Academy, travelled to Boras, Sweden to compete in the Golden Girl Championships and came away with the 50kg title along with the Best Youth Boxer and People’s Champion awards.

Laura Delany, from Knocklyon, captained the Ireland Women cricket team to the T20 World Cup in South Africa, but the team were stopped at the group stages.

Tallaght Rugby Football Club made history when their women’s team won its first piece of silverware, with a 17-0 win over rivals Ashbourne in the Leinster Division Five League.

It was mission accomplished by TU Dublin Camogie team when they claimed the third level Ashbourne Cup following a dramatic 1-11 to 0-13 win over UCC in Belfield.

Moyle Park College struck twice against Lucan Community College to win the Dublin West Under 17 Junior Soccer Schools Final, and go forward to the All-Ireland Division ‘A’ semi-final.

Rathfarnham WSAF AC athlete Carla Sweeney topped the podium with a 4:22.23 time in the Women’s 1,500m event at the National Indoor Championships.

Meanwhile, Donore Harriers AC athlete Jack Raftery stormed to the 400m title in a time of 46.37 seconds at the National Indoor Championships.

DSD women’s relay team of Molly Hourihan, Charlotte Bourke, Cara Murphy and Mollie O’Reilly set a new National Club’s 4x200m Indoor record, while finishing first, in 1.39.86, and Elizabeth Ndudi won gold in the Long Jump.
