Echo Sport Preview Edition July 9

It’s all about Europe in this week’s Echo Sport as we reflect on a historic day on Saturday for the Irish Regions Cup team, bring you all the latest on Shamrock Rovers’ win over Progrès on Tuesday night in the Europa League, and look ahead to St Pats’ clash with Skonto tomorrow evening in Richmond Park in the same competition.

Saturday’s UEFA Regions Cup win for the Irish team, which consisted of seven local players, was an incredible moment for so many, and we hear from the Crumlin duo of James Lee and Greg Moorhouse, Bangor’s Lar Dunne, and Bluebell’s Aji Sule. It’s not often a senior Irish men’s team reach a European Cup final, and to do it on home soil was extra special.

Elsewhere, there’s news of Donore’s John Travers who qualified for the 1500m final at the World University Games, we take a look at Lucan’s Brendan Fitzgerald ahead of the next round of the Blackchurch Fiesta Championship in Mondello this weekend, and we have all the reaction from a great night of boxing last Saturday where Clondalkin’s Stephen Ormond returned to the ring for the first time since being disqualified against Terry Flanagan.
