NEWS of a remarkable performance by Kilnamanagh’s Gary McEnroe in the 25m backstroke at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles in which he won a bronze medal heads up Echo Sport this week, while we feature news on several other local athletes competing at the games.
Elsewhere, Tallaght Swimming Team’s Antoinette Neamt and Niamh Coyne have been in action at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi, and we’ve news on their successes, while we also hear from Firhouse’s Gary Shaw who led the Senior Irish Women’s hockey team to Euro Hockey Championship success in his role as team manager.
Success for Grange Golf Club’s men in the Pierce Purcell Shield Pennant is our headline golf story of the week, and we spoke to manager Plunkett Walsh, plus we have news on Three Rock Rovers’ Daragh Walsh and Fred Norris who were playing for Ireland’s U18 team in the Euro Hockey Championship.
In GAA, our reporters were at the AHL Division One clash between St Jude’s and St Pat’s on Saturday evening, and the AFL Division Five game between Thomas Davis and Crumlin GAA, with full reports on both games included, while in soccer we hear from Shamrock Rovers boss Pat Fenlon on Brandon Miele’s good season so far for the Hoops.
