Egan finishes ninth in final of Olympic qualifier

JENNY Egan had to settle for a ninth place finish in the K1 200m final of the Global Olympic Qualifier in Barnaul, Russia this morning, crossing the line in 45.91 seconds.

While the Lucan kayaker will be disappointed not to secure the one final Summer Games berth that was up for grabs in this race, she can take solace in some very impressive performances both on this and the European Olympic qualification stage over the past week.

She will now turn her attention to the K1 5000m at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup 2 this coming Sunday.
