Eircom seeking retention permission for 12-metre structure

RETENTION permission is being sought for a 12-metre-high telecommunications support structure that is located in a grassed field in Rathcoole.

Eircom Limited is seeking retention permission from South Dublin County Council for its structure at Coolmine in Rathcoole.

Proposals are for the support structure to carry telecommunications equipment together with existing equipment containers.

Associated equipment within a fenced compound, as previously granted in 2010, are included in the application.

According to the planning documentation, this development will continue to form part of Eircom Limited’s existing and future telecommunications and broadband network.

In 2010, the council greenlit the 12m monopole carrying three panel antenna and two RT dishes for the purpose of mobile telecommunications.

This development included all equipment enclosed in palisade fencing. Upon granting that initial permission, the council stated that permission was for a period of five years.

The applicant lodged the application seeking retention permission on May 16, 2022. South Dublin County Council are due to make a decision on the application by July 11, 2022.
