Elderly man in critical condition after being struck by car in Ballyfermot

An elderly man is in critical condition in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle in Ballyfermot last night.

The incident occurred at around 11:30pm on Sunday evening when the man was crossing the Ballyfermot Road.

Members of the public and other motorists rushed to the man’s aid before he was brought to St James’ Hospital where he reportedly underwent surgery.

At least one unit from Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.
