Two men arrested after stolen power tools and machinery worth €50k seized

Two men will appear in court today in relation to the seizure of up to €50,000 worth of stolen property at Dublin Port on Saturday evening.

A large amount of power tools and other garden machinery was discovered when two vehicles, one of which was stolen, were stopped and searched having arrived in Ireland from the UK.

Garda power tools seizure

Two Irish men, aged 38 and 29, were arrested for handling stolen property, and both man were detained at Irishtown Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Both men were subsequently charged in relation to handling offences and are due to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice today.

The stop and search was part of ongoing investigations under Operation Thor targeting burglary and theft relating to criminal activity in the South East Region.
