Empowering entrepreneurship as South Dublin marks Local Enterprise Week

Local Enterprise Week 2024 will take place from Monday, March 4 to Friday March 8, featuring a series of talks, workshops, training and mentoring sessions aimed at inspiring entrepreneurship and creativity both nationally and locally.

Celebrating its 10th year, South Dublin’s Local Enterprise Office (LEO) will host a variety of -free events both online and in-person,  including sessions on Developing Export Opportunities, Trading Online Voucher seminars featuring Google Experts, “If You Can See It, You Can Be It” talks with local entrepreneurs, and a special International Women’s Day event at Olly’s Farm.

These gatherings aim to inspire and support budding entrepreneurs while celebrating innovation and creativity in South Dublin. There is still time for small and medium-sized companies to enter the Local Enterprise Awards 2024, which aim to showcase, encourage, and support a culture of enterprise and entrepreneurship while celebrating business success. Categories include Export, Start Up, One to Watch, Tech/Innovation, Food/Drink, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Green, Female Entrepreneur of the Year, and SCENe (Creative Economy).

Entries will be judged in line with national guidelines (marketing strengths, financial strength, innovation and technology, entrepreneurial skills, and business plan). Applications will be accepted right up to the closing date of February 14.

Shortlisted entries will be announced on February 20, with the Awards ceremony taking place on Thursday, March 7 at The Maldron Hotel in Tallaght.

Additional National and Dublin Regional online and in person events to look out for include ‘Understand and Leverage Mega Trends’, ‘The Sustainability Imperative for your Business Success’ and Raising Finance. Tom Rooney, Head of Enterprise, emphasised the significance of initiatives like Local Enterprise Week and the Awards in celebrating and elevating the endeavours of the vibrant business community.

“South Dublin has an exceptional level of entrepreneurial talent and highly successful emerging and growing businesses,” Rooney noted, “and we urge businesses to join us in attending some of the free events and also to consider sending in an entry this year.”
