End of an era as Forrester eyes Bohs move

ST PATRICK’S Athletic legend Chris Forrester is expected to leave the club over the coming weeks with a move back to Bohemians though to be on the cards.

A native of Smithfield, Dublin 7, Forrester featured sporadically throughout the campaign for Pat’s this year making only 10 league starts though, making 18 further appearances off the bench. In the search for more consistent gametime it appears that Forrester is happy to look elsewhere.

It is believed that Pat’s have triggered a 12 month extension on his contract with the aim being to extract some type of fee from Bohemians, which would soften the blow of losing a club legend to a rival team.

Forrester may find himself as the star man for Bohemians, particularly if they were to lose Dawson Devoy over the winter break with Forrester being an ideal candidate to replace the Ireland international in midfield.

Set to be 34 at the beginning of next season, Forrester has spent 12 seasons at Inchicore across two separate spells.

Originally signing from Bohemians ahead of the 2012 campaign, he made the move to England where he featured prominently for Peterborough United for three seasons along with a brief spell at Aberdeen.

Making nearly 450 appearances for Pats and managing almost 100 goals for the club, he will go down as a club legend, winning the 2013 league title as well as two FAI Cups in both 2021 and 2023.
