A RATHCOOLE illusionist and entertainer has charmed his way to quarter-finals of Norway’s Got Talent, beating off 60,000 acts to make it to the final 80.

Denis Stone (36) performed his first magic trick at the age of eight and has never looked back, with the Rathcoole native now a full-time, award-winning, magician and illusionist.

A father-of-two, Denis left Rathcoole for Norway after meeting a Norwegian lady. However, he comes home regularly for performances and to see family and friends.

“I grew up in Rathcoole and it's a superb place, full of really nice friendly people,” Denis told The Echo.

“Rathcoolians help each other out all the time. It’s such a great community spirit.

“Nearby Saggart is close to my heart also having lots of friends from there and playing football with Saint Mary’s GAA for many years.

“They’re good stock as they say. I also went to school in Rathcoole where I have gained lifelong friends.”

Last week, Denis wowed the judges, and the nation, on Norway’s Got Talent, when his unusual card trick captivated judges – leaving them baffled.

The act secured four yeses for the Rathcoole man, who will now take to the stage again this Friday in the quarter-finals.

“I am going to put years of performances and practice to the test this Friday and we will see has all those years been worth it,” Denis said.

“I saw a Magician performing when I was 8-years-old and I have not looked back since, it is a passion and now my full time job – and I perform regularly at Irish weddings and corporate events etc.

“The very first trick I learnt was the old coin behind the ear trick.

“However, I began to start advancing it by rolling the coin down along each finger and then re-vanishing the coin once again.”

When asked what he hopes to achieve from Norway’s Got Talent, Denis said: “To make my two young daughters and family and friends proud.

“I suppose I’m up against it with not being Norwegian, however, we have to show what us Irish can do!

“I’m going to enjoy it and try my best to keep going forward in the competition which had 60,000 acts at the start and is now down to the last 80 acts – which includes this Irish man in the mix.”

Denis will appear on Norway’s Got Talent today (Friday), March 9, and for further details on the unique performer and bookings visit https://www.denisstone.com/
