Enthusiastic students get a second chance at Priory Outreach in village

THE hard work and determination of young Tallaght students who received a second chance in education was acknowledged during a recent awards ceremony, which signalled a new year and a new start for graduates.

Staged in Priory Outreach, a training centre in Tallaght Village which caters for 25 early school leavers between the age of 15 and 20 years, the awards ceremony saw students presented with full certification at QQI level 2, 3 and 4.

Paul Curtis, Co-ordinator of Priory Youthreach, said: “This day acknowledges the time and commitment put in by students and staff throughout the year.

“I am very proud of my team and their tireless enthusiasm in working with early school leavers from the Tallaght area, and we would all like to wish all the best to our students as they progress on their academic journey.”

He added: “I’m delighted to say that Priory Youthreach is helping to serve the young people of Tallaght who need a second chance in education.

“In the current economic climate such a service has never been more necessary.”

To celebrate and applaud the students’ successes, Paddy Levalle CEO DDLETB [Dublin Dun Laoghaire Education Training Board] was present at the event, alongside Ken Smartt, Regional Co-ordinator DDLETB and South Dublin County Mayor, Sarah Holland.
