Father became verbally abusive to Gardai while drunk in Luas car park
A TALLAGHT father-of-three who became verbally abusive to gardai while drunk in a Luas stop car park has been told to make a charity donation to avoid a criminal record.
Nicolae Neamt had “a lot to drink” following a night out when he caused a drunken disturbance.

Judge Gerard Jones remanded him on continuing bail at Blanchardstown District Court for payment of €100 to charity.
Neamt, aged 52 with an address at Bawnlea Drive, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated in public and threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour.
Sergeant Walter Sweeney said it was reported that a man was being abusive and causing annoyance to security staff and the general public at the Luas Red Cow car park on September 6 this year.
When gardai drove into the car park they observed that the accused was unsteady on his feet and stumbling toward the patrol car. He was in an intoxicated state and became verbally abusive to the gardai, who arrested him and brought him to Clondalkin Garda Station.
Neamt had no previous convictions.
The accused was “very apologetic and embarrassed to be here today,” his solicitor John O’Doherty said.
He was out on the night in question and “had a lot to drink,” Mr O’Doherty said, asking the judge not to impose a conviction.
The accused had been living in Ireland for 20 years and had never been in trouble in his life.
He had been working until recently but was laid off when someone else in his job tested positive for Covid-19.
Judge Jones said Neamt would save himself from having a criminal record if he came up with €100, to be given to the Pieta House charity. In default, he would be fined €300, the judge said.
