Fettercairn crossing promise by council

SOUTH Dublin County Council has committed to providing a pedestrian crossing at the Fettercairn Community Centre and on Fortunestown Way at Brookview, The Echo has learned.

On Monday, the Tallaght South Sinn Féin team met with council management about a traffic count in Fettercairn and the need for pedestrian lights or a crossing around the community centre.

Cllr Dermot Richardson told The Echo that during the meeting the council committed to providing a pedestrian crossing at the Fettercairn Community Centre and also at Fortunestown Way at Brookview.

Cllr Richardson said: “The Sinn Féin councillors for Tallaght South [Cllr Richardson, Cllr Cathal King and Cllr Louise Dunne] welcome the commitment from [council] management to provide these pedestrian crossings.

“We have been looking for the issue at Fettercairn to be addressed with the increased traffic to the area since the one way system was introduced at Belgard Green.

“This will be a great benefit to residents in the area who use the Luas and community centre. However, residents are still looking for a traffic count in the area due to increased traffic.”
