THE annual 4 Districts Fun Day takes place in Rathcoole on Saturday, September 17, from 1pm to 6pm.

Established four years ago to provide entertainment for families from the villages of Rathcoole, Newcastle, Saggart and Brittas, this year’s event will also raise funds for the 4 Districts Day Care Centre.

Fine Gael Councillor Emer Higgins, a member of the organising committee, says the event has proven a “huge success and they are counting on families to “support it again on September 17.”

Cllr Higgins said: “We’ve a great lineup with everything from an animal roadshow and giant games, to line dancing, magicians, puppet shows and bouncy castles.

“There’ll be lots of sports clubs supporting the event, St Mary’s, Commercials, Superfit and Clondalkin Rugby Football Club – with a big sports zone offering kids the chance to learn new skills.

“Local traders will have stalls and local groups, choirs and dancers, will be there to entertain the crowd. There’ll be children’s entertainment, and a pre-school area put on by local childcare providers.

“Thanks to M&K meat’s there’ll be plenty of BBQ food, and all proceeds will be donated to the Four Districts Day Care Centre.”
Gardai, Dublin Fire Brigade and the Civil Defence will showcase their vehicles on the day.

Cllr Higgins thanked the support of South Dublin County Council, Rathcoole Community Centre, the Community Council, community gardai, local groups, businesses and organisatons, for their support.

Volunteers are required to help ensure the day’s success, further information can be found on the 4 Districts Fun Day Facebook page.
