Four one-bed apartments planned for older people

South Dublin County Council has started the part 8 planning process for the proposed development of four one- bed apartments for older people on the Old Lucan Road in Palmerstown.
The Part 8 planning process is the public consultation stage of a development – where members of the public can make submissions on developments that are proposed by local authorities.

It is proposed that the Palmerstown development will be a social housing project for independent living for older people, and the apartments will be housed in a two-storey building.
The proposed works include a new access point from the Old Lucan Road, new boundary walls and gate to Old Lucan Road, provision of four car parking spaces in a landscaped front garden, a courtyard garden to rear, improvement works to boundaries and all necessary associated ancillary works on the site.
According to the council’s application, all units are to be minimum A3 BER rated.
They added that the proposed scheme has undergone Appropriate Assessment Screening under the habitats Directive, and a preliminary examination for Environmental Impact Assessment was also carried out.
South Dublin County Council stated that “there will be no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment
arising from the proposed development and therefore an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required.”
The plans are available to view online on the council’s public consultation portal website, www.consult.sdublincoco.ie, until Thursday, July 23.
Due to restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, plans and
particulars of the development will be available for inspection or purchase at the cost of making a copy, at County hall in Tallaght by appointment only until July 23.
Submissions and observances in relation to the development can be made on the online portal until midnight, July 23, or in writting on the same day.
