Four Tallaght teenagers arrested after high-speed mountain pursuit

Four teenagers, who are all believed to be from Tallaght, were arrested yesterday by gardai after a high-speed chase in the Sally Gap area of the Wicklow Mountains at around 2pm.

The vehicle they were travelling in was spotted acting suspiciously by gardai on patrol, and when they signalled for the driver to stop, the car took off at speed.

A pursuit through the mountains unfolded and the car was discovered in a ditch a short time later.

The occupants were pursued on foot and all were arrested.

Gardai confirmed to Echo.ie that the four youths, three aged 17 and one aged 18, were apprehended near the scene.

The vehicle they were travelling in is believed to have been reported as stolen on New Year’s Eve by a fast-food delivery driver.

Two of the car’s occupants were released without charge last night, while the other two remain in garda custody.
