Four truckloads of household waste is dumped into family’s back garden

THE council’s anti-social response team is currently investigating the dumping of four truckloads of household waste, which was then set alight, into a family’s back garden in Tallaght.
South Dublin County Council was called to the home in Fortunestown after piles of rubbish – including an exercise bike, settee and mattress – were thrown over a wall into the family’s back garden on Halloween night at around 6.30pm.
The rubbish was then believed to have been doused in accelerant and set on fire.
The woman who lives in the house told The Echo: “I just can’t believe that this has happened, the whole bottom of my back garden is destroyed.
“I was at home at the time of the incident, so that shows you just how brazen whoever done this is.
“The council did come out and remove some of the rubbish, but we are still waiting nearly four weeks later for the rest of the pile to be cleared.”
When contacted by The Echo, the council said: “The Council received a call from a tenant to say that there had been a fire in her rear garden.
“On investigation there was quite a bit of burnt rubbish to be removed and that a mini digger was required, with four truckloads being taken out over the last week or two.”
The council said that there has been some delays in clearing the garden due to weather, but that work is now being completed, and that the Anti-Social Response team is carrying out investigations to try and identify those who dumped the rubbish.
