Free digital skills course for older people
By Echo Reporter
Third Age is compiling a database now of older people interested in joining a free course in Digital Skills in DCU this autumn.
Third Age, a national organisation promoting the well-being of older people, has been delegated by the Department of Communications to provide this, part of the government’s Getting Citizens Online programme.
The free 10-hour programme takes place over five weeks. It covers introduction to the Internet, Internet security and safety, email, search engines and websites, online government services, conducting everyday transactions, online voice and video calls and use of apps.
The course is designed to inspire confidence in its intended audience of non-liners, and to create opportunities for successful self-learning.
