By Mary Dennehy

ONE of Ireland’s leading dance-makers is hosting free open-workshops for aspiring and professional dancers in the Civic Theatre this autumn.

Micheal Keegan-Dolan, who is the founder and artistic developer of Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, will be hosting three free workshop for 20 young people between the age of 16 and 24 – who feel “an urge to dig deep, to move, to sound, to sing, to drum”.

LIFE Dance workshops

An award-winning director and choreographer, Micheal’s work has over the years won a Bessie Award (New York Dance and Performance Awards), Irish Times Theatre Award and nominations the Olivier awards and the Europe Prize New Theatrical Realities.

During the workshops in the Civic, Micheal will share his experiences and lifelong passion for dance while exploring different ways that we can learn to move together better.

The workshops will coincide with Micheal’s latest work, Swan Lake (Loch na hEala) which will be previewed in the Civic Theatre in September before premiering in the Dublin Theatre Festival and Sadlers Wells in London.

Any dancer interested in taking a journey of inspiration is invited to fill out the application located on the Civic Theatre’s website, including a little bit on themselves, the journey they have been on and what inspires them to dance.

The closing date for applications is Friday, September 9.

The project is part of a developmental residency supported by the Civic Theatre and South Dublin County Council.
