Fun day marks the Suntower Gardens reopening at school

SCOIL Mochua hosted a special family fun day for students, extended family and friends at their premises at Old Nangor Road in Clondalkin.

The event was organised by the parents association and staff of the non-denominational/co-ed school, which caters for children with disabilities from the ages of three to 18 years.

The school is under the patronage of the Central Remedial Clinic, who have invested heavily in improving the existing infrastructure within the current limitations of the building.

The fun day marked a reopening of the school Suntower Gardens, which recently had an uplift courtesy of The Care Trust, who assist dedicated projects in the CRC and Rehab organisations.

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer provided voluntary teams for the organising and manning of the event.

Activities on the all-weather pitch included passball and wheelchair hurling, while visitors enjoyed live music, magic tricks, a pet farm, and puppet shows.

Bernard Dunne, former top professional boxer from Clondalkin, volunteered his time for the day.

Following approval to the Department of Education schools list in 2015, Scoil Mochua approached South Dublin County Council regarding a strip of land on the boundaries of the existing school building and lands.

The CRC hopes that the land, if shared, will allow for the development of a dedicated centre of excellence for children with disabilities.
