Gaisce awards for Ballyfermot Youth Service students for committment to their community

DEDICATED students from Ballyfermot Youth Service received the president’s awards – Gaisce for their hard work and commitment to sport and their community.

Students Amber Eastwood, Jamie Cornish, Abbie Gibbons and Conal Beggan received the prestigious awards on Saturday, December 4, at Ballyfermot Youth Service.  The programme was coordinated by Sharon Kelly from Dublin City Council.

Gaisce is the most prestigious youth award and self-development programme in Ireland for those aged 14-25 which challenges young people to dream big and reach their full potential. Today more than 20,000 young people 25 and under register to pursue their own Gaisce Award journey every year.

To achieve the awards, the students completed activities for at least one hour a week in each of the three challenge areas which include personal skill, community involvement and physical recreation. They also undertook an adventure journey as part of the process.
