A YOUNG man in his early twenties remains in hospital this week after being admitted with serious head injuries from a suspected assault in Tallaght on November 1.

As reported on Echo.ie, emergency services were called to the Old Blessington Road in Tallaght village in the early hours of November 1, with a fire engine from Tallaght and two HSE ambulances attending the scene.

Emergency services brought the young man to Tallaght Hospital.

However, due to the nature of his injuries, he was transferred to Beaumont.

Gardai at Tallaght issued an appeal for those with information, or who witnessed anything suspicious, to come forward.

A senior Garda source this week told The Echo: “This young man is still in hospital, but he is stable.

“We are satisfied that something untoward happened to this young man – his injuries are consistent with an assault.

“We have already spoken with a number of witnesses who were at the scene on the night and others who have come forward with information since the incident.

“We are still waiting to have a chat with the young man when his medical team advises that it is safe to do so.”

The source added: “All of the statements provided to date are consistent and while there has been no arrests, investigations are ongoing.”

Investigating officers are still encouraging those with information to come forward.
