Garda searches at Newlands Cross lead to a €1.5 million drug haul

On Wednesday evening at Newlands Cross gardai stopped and searched two cars, uncovering heroin worth €600,000, and in follow up searches in the Kildare and Dublin they seized a further €900,000 worth of drugs.
As part of an ongoing investigation targeting drug trafficking activities in the Kildare area, officers from Kildare supported by the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau stopped the vehicles and three males aged 40, 34 and 22, were arrested.
A large quantity of heroin with an estimated street value of €600,000 was seized and the males were arrested for drug trafficking offences and currently remain in custody at Clondalkin Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.
A number of follow up searches were conducted in the Kildare and Dublin areas resulting in quantities of cocaine and cannabis herb being recovered.
At this time, controlled drugs with an estimated street value of €900,000 were been seized in this operation. Investigations are ongoing.
