
Burglary Response Unit uncover massive cannabis haul in Tallaght

Gardai from the Burglary Response Unit uncovered a massive haul of cannabis on Wednesday when they stopped and searched a van.
While on patrol in the Tallaght area, the unit spotted a vehicle acting suspiciously and subsequently stopped and search the van to uncover 9 kilos of cannabis herb – subject to analysis – with a street value of €180,000.
Gardai arrested one man at the scene and he was taken to Tallaght Garda Station where is being detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.
In follow-up searches, the BRU, assisted by Tallaght and Blanchardstown Drug Units, discovered a further 32 kilos of cannabis herb with a street value of €640,000 at a Blanchardstown premises.
The seizures of cannabis herb had a total street value of €820,000.
