Gardai appeal for witnesses to fatal bike crash at roundabout

GARDAÍ are appealing for anybody who has information on a fatal motorcycle crash at the Glenview roundabout in the early hours of last Sunday to come forward.

At around 2.15am last Sunday, December 11, a man in his mid-twenties, from Baltinglass in Wicklow, lost his life after the motorbike he was riding collided with the Glenview roundabout on the Tallaght bypass.

A senior Garda source told The Echo that they have no witnesses to the fatal accident, which gardaí came across while out patrolling.

The source said: “There are no witnesses that we are aware of and no call came into the station reporting a traffic accident.
“We became aware of the accident after a garda car, which was out and about, came across it.

“They performed first aid on the man and called an ambulance. However, sadly, the man was pronounced dead.”

The scene was preserved and garda forensic collision investigators conducted investigations, with officers at Tallaght this week going through CCTV from the area.

The Garda source said: “We would encourage anybody who may have seen the bike earlier up the road to get in touch or who may have been on the N81 that morning.

“Even the smallest piece of information can assist us in building a picture.”
