Will you go that extra mile to help a charity reach its Goal?

THE 12th annual Goal Mile will take place in various venues across the county on Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day.

Since the event first started 12 years ago, more than 250,000 people have taken part, and 1,031 events held throughout the country.

All proceeds collected at the different events across the country will go to helping Goal provide help to people not only in the third world, but also in Syria, where 700,000 people have been made homeless by the war there, which shows no sign of abating.

Over the past 11 years more than €80,000 has been raised by the people of Tallaght and surrounding areas, and this has gone a long way to ensure that many people now have access to clean water, schooling and other services.

It is very much a fun family day out, with people encouraged to turn up in fancy dress – there is no needto register, just turn up on the day and run or walk the mile, putting your donation into the bucket at the end.

So whether this is your first time, or your 12th time, every penny really does count. Get those runners on as a mile really can go a long way!

The Goal Mile event is happening in a number of local venues including locations: Tallaght Athletics Club, Greenhills Road, (Christmas Day, 9.30am-12pm), Eamonn Ceannt Park, Sundrive Road, (Christmas Day, 10.30am-12pm), Corkagh Park Car Park, Clondalkin, (St. Stephen’s Day from 12pm), Terenure College, (St Stephen’s Day, 11.00-12.30) and Round Tower GAA Club, Clondalkin, (St Stephen’s Day, from 10.30am)
