As previously reported on Echo.ie, investigators believed the father of two was targeted during a drugs run to Cloverhill and Wheatfield Prison, after he had driven to the Bridgeview Halting site with two associates.

Detectives had been trying to establish the movements of a black Toyota Avensis - registration 04-D-72956 - in the days prior to the murder, and the hours immediately after it.

According to a Garda statement released this afternoon: “A 19-year-old male and a male in his 30s were arrested this morning in the Dublin area and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 of The Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Dublin Garda Stations.”
